Sedums are wonderful plants for wildlife, for structure, and for draught resistance. Re classified officially as Hylotelephium spectabile, the upright clump forming group of which Brilliant is a member, form clumps of fleshy basal foliage, from which sturdy stems bearing hundreds of bee magnet, colourful flat inflorescences appear in clusters from late summer onwards. Brilliant's flowers are a very attractive striking pink, which contrast beautifully with the light green foliage, and gradually fade to a rusty red in autumn, before turning brown as they die. Even the spent flowerheads though are impressive and will stand well into te winter, looking great with a dusting of frost! Holding an RHS Award of Garden Merit, Sedum 'Brilliant' will grow in even poor soils, as long as they are moderately moist but well drained, and can grow 30 to 60cm high and wide. Resistant to rabbits and most diseases, great for gravel gardens, rock gardens, borders and pots, these are brilliant plants - as claimed by the name!
