A lovely and reliable variety of the ever popular flowering currant, King Edward VII is a hardy and versatile deciduous shrub which will grow to c 2m x 1m tall and wide. The lobed green leaves are aromatic and nicely set off the drooping racemes of deep red flowers which appear in spring. The flowers are followed by white bloomed black berries for additional summer interest, and the leaves often colour well in the autumn before dropping. Completely hardy, and will thrive in any moist but well drained soil, in sun or partial shade and suitable for any aspect. Very useful as part of an informal hedge.
