Concorde is derived from the parentage of two classic pears, Conference and Doyenne du Commice, and has the best features of both, in that like Conference it is hardy and a reliable cropper but inherits more flavour from the Doyenne. A late cropper, Concorde is partially self fertile in pollination group 4, which is spur fruiting, and though it will fruit without a compatible pollinator nearby, heavier crops will be achieved with one The fruit, which is large, juicy and yellow skinned will store for two to three weeks. Will grow 3 to 4 metres high and wide in 10 years. Plant in free draining soil in full sun. Any pruning to shape required should be carried out in late summer.
