Hosta 'Fire and Ice' is one of the most popular varieties of hosta, with it's oval to heart shaped creamy white leaves, accented beautifully by the broad, irregular mid green borders. Compact, it grows to about 60cm x 60cm. In summer spikes of tubular bell shaped lavender flowers are borne over the top of the incredible foliage, making it all in all an excellent variety for pots or borders. This variety will grow well in any reasonably fertile moist, but well drained soil, in partial shade, or full sun. Do not allow to dry out, as it isn't terribly drought resistant, and best in a sheltered location away from cold drying winds, although it is a very hardy plant. As with all hostas, protect from slugs, or spray with a deterrant such as Grazers.
