Heuchera's (Coral Bells) are largely evergreen perennial plants from the Saxifragaceae family. They are native to North America. Their low mounds of foliage are perfect for filling gaps between larger plants as they are quite happy in a shady spot and provide colour from their rich leaves virtually all year long. Varieties of Heuchera range in the hundreds with a range of leaf colour and tiny flowers that grow on long stalks.
Heuchera's are happy in sun or light shade, they like moist but well drained soil. Avoid heavy shading and strong sun, which can scortch the leaves. Heuchera's usually grow slowly so are best grown in groups for greater impact.
Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade' is a delightfully bright and frilly Heuchera for shady and semi shady areas. Neat mounds of fresh green lime foliage, vigorous when established reaching 30cm high by up to 45cm wide, are topped in summer by tall sprays of tiny white coral bell flowers, much loved by bees and other pollinators. Fully hardy, this charming foliage plant is a holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and is largely evergreen, except in the coldest of winters. Simply tidy the older foliage in spring and this plant will reward you with a lovely show in any reasonable well drained soil.
