Edgeworthia Grandiflora is an erect, slow growing deciduous shrub which features globes of sweetly scented tubular yellow flowers on the thick bare stems in late winter, before the narrowly oval, slightly hairy olive green leaves appear. Preferring a sheltered site in moist humus rich soil in partial or full sunlight it is likely to be hardy in most regions of the UK, according to the RHS. However, I'm aware of a particularly nice specimen on the north facing side of a hill, under trees in northern Lancashire, which fits neither the description sheltered or full sunlight, and it still seems happy! Grows to circa 1.5 metres high and across in time
