Echinacea are wonderful perennial plants as their prominent central cones are magnets for bees and other pollinators. Preferring moist but very well drained soil in full sun, they have erect clumps of dark green foliage. 'Unica Burgundy' is a new variety which has large wine red ray floret flowers with an orange brown cone, on sturdy, partly dark stems, growing to 50cm tall by 30cm wide. Deadheading the spent flowers will encourage repeat flowering.
