This is one of the easiest perennials to grow and therefore a good choice for beginners. All it needs is full sun and well-drained soil. The flowers, like all achillea, are magnets for pollinators. TNo longer commonly grown, it was a favourite in older country gardens, and used a lot by the famous Edwardian garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. Vigorous and robust Achillea ptarmica 'The Pearl' features clumps of rich green narrow leaves from which sprays of double pure white button flowers with central yellow anthers emerge on thin yet sturdy stems. The flowers are long lasting and are often used for cutting and floral arrangements. This plant can grow 50 to 90cm tall, depending upon conditions and spread to a similar size. In conditions it enjoys it may also self seed.
