The oval purple fruits which follow last well into the winter providing food for birds, and even the bark is a dramatic and glossy reddy brown. Tolerant of most soils and conditions, Malus 'Prairifire' forms a tree with a large rounded canopy and can get to 4m x 4m after 20 years, if left unchecked.
