Named after the famous garden designer, Gertrude Jekyll is one of the earliest English roses to flower. It's large bright pink ruffled flowers emerge from perfectly formed red tipped buds to emit the most exquisite old rose perfume, almost perfect in every sense. Described by the breeders themselves as one of the most reliable for both flower and scent, Gertrude Jekyll is a vigorous shrub rose which can reach 1100cm x 95cm. At home in most soils and most situations except very thin or dry soils, Gertrude will flower her socks off in full or partial sunlight. Available as a shrub or as a small climber, in which case it will attain around 2.5m height.
