A heart breakingly pretty variety of English Rose, Scepter'd Isle bears numerous lovely light pink cupped flowers each with golden yellow stamens. The petals pale on the outer edges, giving them an almost luminescent quality, and each flower possesses a strong and distinctive myrrh fragrance. A repeat flowerer making an elegant and graceful shrub just over a metre and a quarter high and wide it will work in all soil types and aspects, as long as it gets at least partial sunlight. A good rose for shady areas, as well as full sunlight, it will enhance any bed, grow well in a large pot and makes a great decorative low hedge. Introduced in 1996.
English shrub roses require less pruning and maintenance than many traditional roses, having a naturally shrubby growth, which just needs older and wek stems cutting out or reducing once a year.
