DESCRIPTION
Introduced nearly a century ago and still one of the favourites for main crop sowing. Deep red flesh, marvellous flavour and stores well. Easy to grow and much more tasty than fresh shop bought beetroot. It should be harvested just at the right time when the size of a tennis ball.

Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm (½") deep with 30cm (12") between rows.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Thin the seedlings gradually as they grow to an eventual spacing of 10cm (4"). Do not transplant.

For a plentiful supply of sweet small roots , sow successionally at fortnightly intervals.
