Spiraea japonica 'Candlelight' is a delightful dwarf compact shrub with lime green ovate foliage in summer. In the spring the foliage emerges a striking red yellow colour which gradually fades during the season. This shrub often then gives a late autumn display when the leaves turn rich red. Clusters of tiny pink flowers appear from mid to late summer, which are very attractive to mpollinators. Growing to a maximum height of 60cm, this shrub slowly spreads and can reach 80m wide, so a very useful shrub for the front of a border, edging paths, or even creating a low path. The shrub will stay more compact if the stems are cut back hard after flowering. Low maintenance and virtually indestructible if grown in sun or partial shade in any moist but well drained soil, as it is resistant to most pests and diseases. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
