A favourite salvia of ours, this shrubby sage features bi pinnate small aromatic mid green leaves with terminal racemes of bi colour scarlet red and white flowers throughout summer and autumn. The flowers initially open red, fading to white with red lips in mid summer and eventually to all white as the summer cools. Attractive to pollinators, and a recipient of the prestiguous RHS AGM award, this plant will brighten any garden anywhere, when planted in decent well drainesd soil in full sun or light shade. As with all salvias will appreciate a bit of extra protection in particularly wet or cold winters, but is hardy enough to survive most normal winters in a well drained sunny spot. Can eventually grow to 1m x 1m, but easy to control by trimming back when new growth starts to appear in spring.
