Senecio candicans 'Angel Wings' is a really interesting new plant which is ideal for a sensory garden as the texture is fabulous. Soft and downy, a bit like the softest puppy, the large leaves, which resemble elephant's ears are a shimmering silver grey, and can quickly clump up to form a plant of up t 40cm high and wide. The flowers are white, but the plant usually wont flower in this country, but it is the foliage which is the main attraction anyway, and for which it has won awards. Needs a sunny spot and a very well drained soil, so avoid winter wet. The plant can be used indoor and outdoor, so whilst it is known to be hardy down to at least -8, it can always be brought indoors if required. Minimal maintenance reuired other than picking off the occasional dead leaf.
